![]() ![]() You could go anywhere but had to use vast strategy on what to tackle and when. The Big Overmap RPG world, the persistent dynamic control of the world as you take over the map bit by bit while seeing your vast assortment of characters grow and create their own incredible situations within the JA2 Sandbox. The thing that made people want to engage in the combat. The thing no developer seems to care about since JA2 is trying to recapture the game style as a whole. ![]() IT WAS NOT THE COMBAT! Combat was just a copy of XCOM and wasn't that special although it was great and was the best system for that game. It's about only 16-17 years since I first played JA2 but even now if I mess something up I say 'No more bullets.need better planning' :D And so much of the dialog was so wickedly hilarious and over the top! Pretty much any time I ever hear somebody say the name Elliot, the next words that echo in my head are "YOU IDIOT" or I will see a tiger or something on TV and I just blurt out "DOG!" People think I'm a moron and I have to explain about this brilliant game that came out over 20 years ago that most people never played and somehow, despite how brilliant it was, the developer went broke, the franchise went tits up and we are STILL waiting for a worthy successor. Likes, dislikes, morale, unique skill sets. I can't think of any other game - maybe ever- that put as much thought into developing the toons that inhabit the game. If I ever won the lottery I'd buy that intellectual property in a heartbeat. But I think I know what i'm going to be loading up YET AGAIN. I was on here looking for a game that will play well on this crappy laptop and happened across this JA3 game. I really hope JA3 is different and actually understands this.Ībsolutely the thing that set the original games apart was the extremely high quality of the character development. The focus on only Combat makes all sequels and imitations, Soulless boring slogs we've seen before in tons of other games. It was all the rest that made the game great and memorable!. ![]() You had to build bases and create small armies to protect them, warding off attacks as you grew your resources and by taking over mines and building supply lines. Every Dev that tries to make a Jagged Alliance style game MISSES the main element that made JA2 so great and a cult classic. ![]()
